Cloetta holds a strong leadership position in the Swedish market with number 1 positions in sugar confectionery, chocolate bars, chocolate bags and pastilles.
Cloetta has a strong heritage in Sweden, dating back to 1872 when the Cloetta brothers started up in Malmö, Sweden, thereby becoming the first factory based producers of chocolate in Sweden. 1885 Fredrik Ahlgren founded his company, which in 1909 introduced Läkerol. In 1934, a factory specialised in liquorice products was started in Malmö – and later on named Malaco.
Both Cloetta and Läkerol hold the prestigious position of purveyor to the Royal Swedish Court.
In Sweden Cloetta employs about 585 people in the Group head office in Stockholm, the Scandinavian headquarters in Malmö, the field sales organisation and the factories in Ljungsbro and Helsingborg.
