Cloetta’s organisation consists of a multi-cultural and internationally experienced group of people who operate in an open and free working environment and who adapt to change at both central and local levels.

Cloetta’s Supply Chain division is responsible for production, purchasing, planning, logistics, quality, technology and safety. In Cloetta’s Supply Chain division are 8 factories in Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia and Ireland. All in all, Cloetta produces about 120.000 tonnes of confectionery and is constantly striving for continuous improvements trough Lean and Value Engineering.

Key responsibilities

The Head of HSE role is a senior role in our Operations organisation which is responsible for providing leadership and direction of the HSE functions. This position will manage the HSE organisation through the local HSE managers in our 8 plants (1 Slovakia, 2 Sweden, 1 Ireland, 3 The Netherlands, 1 Belgium) via dotted lines, and will also cover the global Cloetta business.

The purpose of this position is to drive the HSE strategy implementation to continually reduce injuries and reduce the risk level within our business.

This is done through health, safety and environmental training, programs and processes with a visible and uncompromised commitment to the protection of the environment as well as the safety of the company’s employees.

The Head of HSE is part of the Manufacturing Management Team and will report to the Manufacturing Director.

The Head of HSE is leading the HSE function by:

  • Establishing HSE strategy linked with the corporate strategy to become a leading company in safety and establish HSE annual goals/objectives and provide support and direction to the local HSE teams;

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for HSE. Direct and manage the implementation of HSE programs that aligns to corporate strategy and support a zero harm HSE culture;

  • Support, participate and implement HSE strategies, policies and initiatives;

  • Working with corporate responsibility at Cloetta is a long term commitment and to continuously strive to improve in the field of corporate responsibility will be crucial to our success.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to HSE managers on HSE-operational issues; participate as needed in the resolution of escalated problems or issues;

  • Hands on mentality on the gemba to offer employee mentoring, coaching and guidance in making safe choices while working;

  • Oversee development of materials for HSE training, programs and processes;

  • Prepare various reports for senior management and/or Corporate and respond to questions regarding the HSE efforts of the organisation.

Job requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience in working in an international manufacturing environment

  • Ability to engage and motivate others and to take people with her/him

  • Fluent in English

  • Higher vocational or University (Bachelor or Masters degree) in HSE, HSE Engineering or related field

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred

  • Thorough knowledge of regulations, compliance, legal and governance requirements in relation to safety, health and environmental matters, including a very strong understanding of OSHA regulations

  • 5+ years’ experience in a HSE leadership role.

  • Require high level of travel (+/- 60% depending of home country)
