Human rights

Cloetta strives to conduct our business in a way that does not lead to any harm to people, whether it is directly caused by us or indirectly through our business partners or suppliers. We support the United Nations Global Compact, the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the International Bill of Human Rights, and the core conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO). In addition, we perform human rights due diligence in our supply chain in compliance with the Norwegian Transparency Act (Åpenhetsloven). Our business activities are based on the Cloetta Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct and specifies our requirements as well as our ambitions when it comes to upholding human and labor rights, conducting ethical business, and improving performance in health and safety and environmental management.

Human rights Due Diligence

The Norwegian Transparency Act requires companies to conduct due diligence on human rights and decent working conditions in their internal operations and throughout their supply chain, including suppliers and subcontractors. The definition of suppliers is broad and encompasses all parties involved in the supply chain from raw materials to finished products. Companies must take measures to identify and address any violations of human rights or decent working conditions that occur in their supply chain.

Cloetta continuously works to embed human rights in the way we do business. We take a risk-based approach to due diligence and adjust our actions accordingly across our value chain. This includes policy development and integration, strengthening of grievance mechanisms, training and capacity building, strategy development, collaborations in industry initiatives, and other ways to manage risk and contribute to positive impact for people. We have set targets and activities for material sustainability topics to help guide strategy in these areas moving forward, with key initiatives related to human rights. An overview of our sustainability initiatives can be found here.
